The NVR Global Conference
The NVRA will be hosting the UK’s first NVR Global Conference on the 19th June 2026
The event will be held exclusively online, with people joining from around the world to connect, learn and help raise the presence of NVR.
In the UK especially, we feel NVR is very underrepresented, which is why in an effort to remove barriers, we will be hosting this Global Conference FREE of charge; however, donations are welcome, which will go towards the cost of running this event.

Connective Strength: NVR Training

Delivering expert professional training in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), with deep specialism and extensive experience in this area.
In our training programme, two pioneers of Nonviolent Resistance – based therapy and practice – Peter Jakob, who first introduced the approach to the UK and Kerry Shoesmith, and colleagues the first to use the the approach in residential services - deliver central and agency-based training with specialisms in trauma, child-focus and children who are in care.
Margaret Gilbert: Life Coaching

Margaret Gilbert, NVR practitioner, supervisor and trainer is partnering with NVR Practitioners Consortium UK to present a 4-day NVR training for professionals. The course is certified by the NVR Practitioners Consortium and accredited by NVR UK. The first of its kind in Ireland, the first step in the progression route to NVR Practitioner status.

Introducing: 'NVR and Adoption’
Online 1-2-1 and monthly group sessions to help adoptive families and the practitioners working with them understand and use NVR approaches in their daily lives. Opportunities to discuss how the approaches work in individual situations and reminders about how essential self care and supporters are!

Youth Options
Youth Options are looking to appoint an NVR Practitioner to join our delivery team.
Your role will be to deliver early interventions including Non-Violent Resistance, with families who have identified multiple and complex needs. You will support, develop and engage children, young people and parents to realise their abilities, aspirations and make a valuable contribution to their communities. The role will involve motivating and empowering families, particularly parents and carers, to establish and maintain effective and sustainable healthy lifestyles that lead to improved outcomes for children and young people.
